General Rules and Expectations

• Privacy and Confidentiality: What is shared in the group stays in the group. You must respect other parents' personal stories and struggles.

• Respectful Communication: No shaming, blaming, or negative comments about personal feeding choices (such as formula use, pumping, or combination feeding).

• Health and Wellness: Do not attend in-person meetings if you, your baby, or household members have signs of a contagious illness (fever, cough, or stomach bug).

• Nature of the Group & Medical Disclaimer
  The Participant understands and acknowledges that The Latch SCV/ Darla Burns, IBCLC is a peer-to-peer and/or educational support group. The information, suggestions, and experiences shared during meetings—whether by group leaders, facilitators, or other participants—are for general educational and informational purposes only.

• Participation in this group is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. A professional client-provider medical relationship is not established by attending these group sessions. Always seek the advice of your physician, your child’s pediatrician, or another qualified licensed healthcare provider regarding any medical condition or acute feeding issues.

Assumption of Risk
The Participant voluntarily elects to attend and participate in these group sessions with full knowledge that the group is an environment for sharing peer experiences and general lactation techniques. The Participant assumes all risks associated with participating in the group, including but not limited to the implementation of any techniques, feeding positions, or equipment demonstrations discussed during the sessions.

Release of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Participant, on behalf of themselves and their child(ren), hereby releases, waives, and forever discharges The Latch SCV, Darla Burns, IBCLC, and Pure Births, its organizers, facilitators, volunteers, and agents from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to any injury, illness, harm, or adverse health outcomes resulting directly or indirectly from participation in the group or the application of information shared therein.

Indemnification

The Participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless [Insert Name of Group/Organization] and its representatives from any claims, losses, or liabilities (including reasonable legal fees) brought by third parties arising out of the Participant’s actions or attendance during the group meetings.

Registration and Attendance Policies

• Advance Sign-Up: We require online registration beforehand to keep group sizes small and manageable.

• Guest Policies: Attendance is limited to the primary caregiver and infant to keep the room quiet and focused.

• Scope of Care: Support groups offer peer support and general guidance, but they do not replace individual, one-on-one medical care or a formal private lactation consultation.

• Strollers: Due to limited space, we ask that no strollers be brought into the classroom.

• Fee: This group is donation-based. Pay what you can on the day of group. Donations may be sent to: Zelle 661-645-3726 or Venmo to @douladarla

• Refunds: There are no refunds for donations made.
