Meet Your Lactation Consultant

My name is Darla Burns and I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Professional Labor Doula, and Certified Professional Postpartum Doula

For over three decades, I have been serving families as a perinatal professional offering guidance, education and support from pregnancy to birth to postpartum.

As an IBCLC, I bring my doula skills to create a calm, supportive, compassionate, and evidence-based educational environment and heavily focus on the care of the new mom. Supporting the connection of breastfeeding dyad while also adding in additional education on newborn behaviors, milestones, while giving anticipatory guidance to the parents, lends to a holistic approach in all of my lactation visits.

I want all of my patients to feel heard, respected, and confident in their breastfeeding journey.

I also teach monthly prenatal breastfeeding classes to couples, and hold weekly breastfeeding support groups at Pure Births Pregnancy and Wellness in Valencia.

I offer in-office lactation consultations, but do provide some in-home support in the first 2 weeks of baby’s life for those living in the Santa Clarita Valley.

PERSONAL STUFF:

I have been married to my husband Kerwin since 1994. I have 2 adult children: Ashley and Mathew.

Ashley is a professional photographer and is married to Brian who is in medical school. They are expecting their first child in September 2026.

Mathew is in the sports collectibles and precious metals industries and runs a store in the Santa Clarita Valley with my husband.

I have lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1990 and love living here and serving my community.
